2025 National Tea Competition Submission

Kamairicha
Masaya Kai – Kai Seichaen
Takachiho, Miyazaki
Yabukita Cultivar

In 2025, this traditional kamairicha was selected for submission to Japan’s prestigious National Tea Competition.

Produced by Masaya Kai of Kai Seichaen — a fourth-generation tea family rooted in Takachiho, Miyazaki — this tea continues the region’s long tradition of crafting kamairicha using the traditional pan-firing method.

The leaves are harvested in the mountainous area of Takachiho and processed with the region’s traditional iron-kettle heating technique, resulting in a gently aromatic, balanced, and refined cup unique to kamairicha.

Only a limited micro-batch was produced specifically for competition submission. We are honored to offer a small allocation of this rare lot.
