WDH - Hasamiyaki Porcelain White Kyusu Tea Set (Pot + 2 Cups)
A yokode kyusu is a traditional Japanese tea pot with a side handle meant for steeping Japanese tea. Specifically, when you pour tea with a side-handle kyusu, you do so in small amounts dividing up the tea between the cups so that they are even in strength of flavor. The side handle is meant to allow quick wrist rotation so you can quickly pour our the tea in small amounts.Â
Made with beautiful white porcelain by artisans in Hasami Village, Nagasaki, a pottery production region with a 4-century history, WDH has packaged this set in a beautiful Paulownia wood gift box. Paulownia wood has traditionally been used in Japan to store valuable goods because the wood has a high ignition point of 400ËšC (there are stories of valuable kimono being saved from fire due to this characteristic) and the wood naturally repels insects.
