Japanese Black Tea from Shizuoka
Japanese black tea powder is a rare but delicious addition to both drinks and foods. It can be used to create rich wakocha lattes or added as flavouring to all sorts of foods and baked goods. Powdered form makes it easy to create rich milk teas as the amount of water required is minimal compared to leaf teas, thus allowing the consistency to be creamy and delicious!

Using Wakocha Powder
Wakocha powder is especially popular as the main ingredient for wakocha lattes but it can also be used in other drinks, treats, and foods. It has a rich and multifaceted flavour that is sure to charm in a wide variety of uses. This powder is made completely from roasted tea, allowing the flavour of the ingredients to really shine.
Rich Cinnamon Milk Tea
4g Japanese Black Tea Powder
100ml Water
1 Cinnamon Stick
1 tbsp Condensed Milk
200ml Creamy Milk (full fat milk or creamy plant based milk)

Sieve black tea powder into a pan, add the water, and a cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, then lower the temperature and mix while on a medium heat for 5 minutes to extract the flavour of the black tea and cinnamon. About half of the water should boil off during this stage. Add the milk and continue heating for 10 minutes more while occasionally mixing.
- Take off the heat and mix in the condensed milk. Pour into a cup and enjoy. You can leave the cinnamon stick in the pot or use it as a garnish in the cup.
Roasted Wakocha Milk Tea
4g Japanese Black Tea Powder
4g Sugar
200ml Creamy MilkÂ
- Add the black tea powder and sugar to a pan. On a medium heat let the sugar melt. Make sure the powder is mixed in but beyond that avoid excessive mixing.
- When the sugar turns golden brown pour in the milk. Mix until fully combined and warm.
- For a cold drink pour over ice, for a hot drink pour to a cup and enjoy as is.
